Hungarian Association for Ethnochoreology

About us:

The Hungarian Association for Ethnochoreology is established in June of 2011. The founders’ aim was to create a forum for folk dance researchers and professionals who were dealing with folk dance in practice (tutors, choreographers, dancers) within the framework of building connections and working together as experts of theory and practice. ‘Ethnochoreology’ in the appellation of the association refers to an internationally used expression, which implies the act of folk dance research and the practice too. In the founding document we aimed the following purposes:

– Carry on with Hungarian folk dance research, cultivate its quintessence and make its results available
– Safeguard the values of the traditional dance culture in favour of the strengthen the social acknowledgment of the dance-art

Our aim is to organize conventions for specialists, conferences, advanced studies, and symposiums.
